ELECTION

INCUMBENT CONGRESSMAN JACK BERGMAN WINS A FOURTH TERM IN MICHIGANS FIRST CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT...IN THE 37TH SENATE DISTRICT, REPUBLICAN JOHN DAMOOSE OF HARBOR SPRINGS DEFEATS DEMOCRAT BARBARA CONLEY OF NORTHPORT.

IN THE 36TH DISTRICT, REPUBLICAN MICHELE HOITENGA OF MANTON WINS REELECTION OVER JOEL SHELTROWN OF WEST BRANCH. IN THE STATE HOUSE RACES.

REPUBLICAN, NEIL FRISKE OF CHARLEVOIX DEFEATED JODI DECK OF THE SAULT TO WIN THE 107TH.

REPUBLICAN CAM CAVITT OF CHEBOYGAN DEFEATS MARIE FIELDER OF ALPENA TO WIN THE 106TH.

IN THE 105TH, REPUBLICAN KEN BORTON OF GAYLORD WINS A SECOND TERM OVER ADAM WOJDAN OF FREDERIC.

IN THE 104TH, REPUBLICAN JOHN ROTH OF TRAVERSE CITY WINS A SECOND TERM BY DEFEATING CATHY ALBRO OF BELLAIRE.

AND, IN THE 103RD, THE RACE BETWEEN REPUBLICAN JACK OMALLEY OF LAKE ANN AND DEMOCRAT BETSY COFFIA OF TRAVERSE CITY IS STILL TOO CLOSE TO CALL.

WHITMER WINS RE-ELECTION
Governor Gretchen Whitmer has won another term in office, defeating republican
challenger Tudor Dixon. Dixon did not concede the race, saying she was going to wait
until every vote is counted.

ATTORNEY GENERAL RACE
In the race for state attorney general, incumbent Dana Nessel leads her republican
challenger Matt DePerno 52 percent to 46 percent with 88 percent of the votes counted.

SECRETARY OF STATE
Incumbent Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson declared victory over Republican
challenger Kristina Karamo late last night.
Benson's 55 percent of the vote leads Karamo's 43 with 88 percent of votes counted.
Benson celebrated her victory alongside another Democrats last night in Detroit.
Karamo has not conceded the race... taking to Twitter... accusing Ann Arbor and
several cities in Oakland County of election violations.

STATE PROPOSALS PASS
All three ballot proposals have been PASSED by Michigan voters.
Proposal one will limit terms in the state legislature to 12 years and require public
financial disclosure reports by legislators and other state officers. 65 percent of voters
approved the measure.
Proposal two will give voters the right to verify their identity with photo ID or signed
statement, provide the right to vote absentee in all elections, require state funded
absentee ballot drop boxes, and more. It was approved by 59 percent of voters.
Finally.. proposal three will amend the state constitution... to establish the individual
right to reproductive freedom -- including right to make all decisions about pregnancy
and abortion. 56 percent of voters passed the measure.

CONGRESSIONAL RACES
There are still some Congressional races that are too close to call at this point. With 74-
percent of the vote in, businessman John James leads former Macomb County
Prosecutor Carl Marlinga by about eleven-thousand votes in the 10th District.
Also Incumbent Democrat Dan Kildee leads Republican Paul Junge (Young) in the 8th
District which includes the Flint, Saginaw, Midland area. Incumbent Elissa Slotkin won
re-election beating state Senator Tom Barrett in one of the most expensive races in the
country. Shri Thanadar won the 13th District race. Incumbents Debbie Dingell and
Rashida Tlaib cruised to victory. In West Michigan, democrat Hillary Scholten beat
Republican John Gibbs in the 3rd District in and around Grand Rapids.
Republican Congressman John Moolenaar , Jack Bergman, and Bill Huizenga have
won re-election.
In a closely watched race in west Michigan, democrat Hillary Scholten has been
elected to Congress in the third district. She beat republican John Gibbs, a former
Trump administration employee who had been endorsed by the former president.

POWERBALL WINNING TICKET
A single ticket sold in California won a Powerball jackpot worth $2.04 billion ($997.6
million cash) after matching all six numbers drawn 10-33-41-47-56 and Powerball 10
in the delayed Monday, Nov. 7 drawing. The record-setting Powerball drawing was
pushed to Tuesday morning after being delayed for nearly 10 hours due to one
participating lottery needing additional time to process its sales and play data.
One lucky Michigan player matched the five white balls drawn to win a $1 million prize.
The winning ticket was bought at the Country Corner Supermarket, located at 10039
Buchanan Road in Stanwood. Stanwood is about 10 miles south of Big Rapids. The
$2.04 billion Powerball jackpot set a world record for the largest prize ever won.

MSU ALL CLEAR
Michigan State University's public safety office tweeting on Tuesday that they have
investigated and determined that no incident took place at Wonders Hall. Police cleared
the area. There was never a threat to the public. Earlier in the day, there had been a
police presence at South Wonders Hall as officers investigated what they called a
"potential incident."

40 UNDER 40
DeAndra Larkin, Chief of Staff in the Office of the President at Mott Community
College, has been named a 40 Under 40 by the American Association of Women in
Community Colleges for 2022. MCC President, Dr. Beverly Walker-Griffea, says she is
exemplary in her dedication, positivism, leadership and philanthropic effort in the
community.

INTERIM POLICE CHIEF
Charlevoixs City Council voted to keep Deputy Chief Rob Scholey on as its interim
police chief moving forward. Scholey is filling in after Former Police Chief Gerard Doan
retired amid an investigation into complaints filed in October. Doan was placed on
administrative leave on October 14 and retired on November 1. The city is hoping to
begin its search for a new chief as soon as possible.

THREE MEN ARRESTED ON I-75
Three men were arrested after traveling at 104 mph on I-75 on November 1 while in
possession of controlled substances, according to Michigan State Police. Arraigned in
89th District Court in Cheboygan County were Shawn Wilson of Newport on four
separate counts. Christopher Meade from Sault Ste. Marie, was charged with one
count of operating under the influence. And Bradley Phillips from Detroit, was charged
with one count of possession of controlled substance. The incident happened on
northbound I-75 near M-68 Highway.

LOOK OUT FOR BEARS
While Michigan hunters are out looking for deer in the coming weeks -- wildlife officials
are asking them to look for signs of bears as well. The Michigan Department of Natural
Resources is asking hunters and others who spend time outdoors to keep an eye out
for bear dens while in the field -- and, if they find one, to report the location to the DNR.
The DNR reminds hunters and others in Michigan that it is illegal to disturb, harm or
molest a bear or bear den.

SUMPTER SHOOTING
Police in Sumpter Township continue to search for a group of people involved in a
shooting at a mobile home park Monday night. A 15-year-old boy was shot when a
group of people walking down the street allegedly fired several shots at another group
standing outside a home. The teen was taken to the hospital in stable condition. The
suspects ran out of the mobile home park after the shooting to a waiting car on
Rawsonville Road. They are still at large today.

EASTPOINTE SHOOTING
Family and friends of a teenager shot and killed by a pickup truck driver are calling for
charges to be filed in the case. 18-year old Ty Hale was shot in early October after
driving up to the pickup truck near Stricker and David streets. Investigators say the two
people in the truck said they feared for their lives although the teenager didn't have a
gun. The gunman, who had a license to carry, was questioned by police but released.

ONE MILLION DOLLAR WINNER
Only one person in California took home the record-breaking $2 billion Powerball prize
drawn Tuesday morning, but someone in or near Canadian Lakes in Mecosta County
won $1 million in the drawing. The winning ticket was sold at Hixsons Family Market, in
Canadian Lakes. The $1 million winner matched the five white balls but not the
Powerball. The winning numbers were 10, 33, 41, 47, 56 and Powerball 10. According
to the Powerball website, 22 tickets across the country won the $1 million consolation
prize.

ELECTION AND STOCKS
Now that voters have had their sayWall Street will weigh in and its safe to
say..investors will be winners. Theres been plenty of talk about how the make-up of
congress will impact corporate America, regulations, taxes and economic factors, but
Wall Street can handle it. US Bank ran the numbers dating back to 1962. It doesnt
matter who the president was or which party was in control - investors were the big
winners. The S&P 500 index was up after every single midterm both six months and 12
months later. The gain averaged 15% in six months..and just over 16% one year later.

PATMOS LIBRARY
The future of the Patmos library in limbo for a second time after another millage
rejected by some of the 10-THOUSAND voters in Jamestown Township southwest of
Grand Rapids. The renewal failing 55.8 percent to 44.2 percent following a successful
drive by a local conservative group opposed to books on shelves featuring L-G-B-T-Q
material. In August a similar vote drawing national attention and raising 260-
THOUSAND dollars in go-fund-me donations. The library President saying the money a
short term fix, with inflation, and rising operating costs, the library only operating for two
years.

VOTER TURNOUT
The Secretary of State says Michigan is on pace for the largest voter turnout in state
history for a midterm election.
The all-time record for a midterm election was set in 2018 -- when 4.3 MILLION votes
were cast.
Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says the state will get a better sense of
the new record as the days unfold.
A record 2 MILLION absentee ballots were requested for the election -- with 1.8
MILLION of them returned as of 8:30 last night.
Benson also says 14 THOUSAND people registered to vote yesterday... many of them
in college communities.

COLLEGE STUDENTS VOTE
Some college students waited for hours to vote yesterday. More than six-thousand
students across the state stood in line to register and vote as a result of a same-day
voting law that was passed several years ago. In Ann Arbor, students who were in line
when the polls closed at eight o'clock where allowed to vote. It took more than three
hours for ALL students to get through the line with the last vote being cast around
midnight. Long lines were also reported earlier in the day in East Lansing where
Michigan State students were casting ballots.

VOTER INTIMIDATION
There were been two reported cases of voter intimidation on Tuesday.
The Secretary of State says that someone standing in the hallway at Edison School in
Detroit was telling people at the polls that they didn't look like they were eligible to
vote. The person was removed and no one turned away because of his actions. In
Ann Arbor, a person was challenging every person who surrendered an absentee ballot
to vote in person. That is allowed under the law.
