ANN ARBOR GIRL FOUND DEAD
Washtenaw County investigators say there are initially NO SIGNS of foul play as the
body of a missing teen has been recovered. A Sheriff's K-9 unit discovered the body of
Adriana Davidson near the athletic fields of Ann Arbor Pioneer High School on
Monday. She was last seen by fellow classmates back on Friday.

MICHIGAN A.G. ANNOUNCES CLEANUP SITE
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced a settlement agreement for the
clean-up of a P-FAS contaminated site in Livingston County -- in the first such deal
since the state filed suit against multiple manufacturers, back in 20-20. The owners of
ah-SAH-hee KYE-say Plastics North America have agreed to cover the
complete remediation of the company's former facility near Brighton.

UofM HEALTH WEBSITE HACK
University of Michigan Health websites have fallen victim to a cyber attack. Multiple
reports connect the attack to a pro-Russian hacker group, which targeted more than a
dozen health care systems. U-of-M said the hack was through third-party vendor sites
and no patient information was hacked.

COMET ACROSS SKY THIS WEEK
The name is nothing special - comet C-2022-E-3. The last time it was seen was 50-
thousand years ago, and it's flying close to Earth. There's a chance you can look up at
night any day this week and spot it with your bare eye, but it would be better with a nice
pair of binoculars. Look up between the Big and Little Dipper, to catch the comet before
it's gone again.

UofM HEALTH RANKINGS
The University of Michigan Medical School will no longer participate in the annual U-S
News and World Report rankings of medical schools. The criteria used to rank medical
schools has long been a concern at Michigan and many medical schools across the
country.

1 DEAD, 6 HURT IN CRASH
Lapeer County authorities say speeding was a factor in a crash that left one person
dead and seven others hospitalized. Imlay City police say a pickup truck driven by a
17-year old from Macomb County was speeding when he crashed into two other
vehicles Sunday night. The teenager is in critical condition. A person driving one of
the other cars was killed instantly while a pregnant woman and infant in the car were
also hurt. Three others including another pregnant woman were in a third car that was
also hit. They were also taken to the hospital. Investigators are awaiting a report to
determine if drunk or drugged driving also played a factor in the crash.

CONGRESSWOMAN HALEY STEVENS WON'T RUN FOR SENATE
Congresswoman Haley Stevens, of Metro Detroit, will NOT be running for the state's
open senate seat in 2024.
Stevens -- a Democrat representing Oakland County in the state's 11th district -- says
she can best serve residents in her current role.
Earlier this year -- Senator Debbie Stabenow... a fellow Democrat... announced that
she would not be running for a fifth 6-year term next year... setting off speculation as to
who would run for the seat.
Stevens says she remains committed to getting a Democrat elected to the open seat.

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS COUNCIL-NO QUORUM AGAIN
There are problems in Muskegon Heights as four council members did not show up for
last night's council meeting, so it failed to reach a quorum for a second meeting. This
as City Manager Troy Bell's contract expires today after council voted earlier this month
to fire him. There are no plans to replace him yet, and the city attorney is also leaving.
The city also needs to fill the positions of finance manager, an assessor and a human
resources department.
Muskegon Heights Mayor Pro Tem Ronand Jenkins says this is serious business and
they have to start making decisions to move forward.

GUILTY PLEA IN MURDER-SW MI
A southwest Michigan man, 39-year-old Wade Allen , of Sturgis, has pleaded no
contest to killing and mutilating his girlfriend and sexually assaulting a fellow inmate. In
May of 2019, police responded to a tip regarding the murder of Allen's girlfriend and
found her mutilated remains stored in two coolers.
While in jail, Allen spoke to his cellmates about having strangled his girlfriend to the
point of death. After finding out that the cellmates had passed this information onto the
authorities, Allen sexually assaulted one of the inmates when they were re-housed
together. Allen will be sentenced in March.

LAWMAKER WITH COVID VOTES AT STATE CAPITOL
State Representative Natalie Price, a democrat from Berkley, voted from the State
Capitol Building last week after she tested positive for COVID-19. Bridge Michigan
reports it was an arrangement approved by House Speaker Joe Tate despite state
house isolation protocols which call for those who test positive should stay home for
five days. A spokesperson for Tate, Amber McCann, says Price wore an appropriate
mask and voted from the gallery to ensure social distancing.

U-M POLL FOOD ADDICTION
Food addiction appears to be a problem in older Americans. A new University of
Michigan poll fines one in eight Americans over 50 show signs of food
addiction...having an unhealthy relationship with highly processed and comfort foods.
About 13-percent of those aged 50 to 80 showed signs of addiction to such foods and
beverages in the past year according to the National Poll on Healthy Aging.
The percentage is much higher among women than menespecially women in their 50s
and early 60s. It was also higher in older adults who say they are overweight, lonely, or
in fair or poor physical or mental health.

DOCTOR FRAUD CASE-SE MI
A southeast Michigan doctor has been sentenced to almost 17 years in prison and
ordered to pay $30 million dollars for a scheme to bill Medicare and other insurers for
unnecessary injections of painkillers and for writing prescriptions for millions of opioids.
A-P reports Frank Patino's fraud went on for years.
In a court filing, Justice Department attorney Steven Scott said Patino steadily
increased the potency of the opioids he prescribed, ultimately making him the top
prescriber of 30 milligram oxycodone within the state of Michigan over five years.
Patino's new attorney is seeking a new trial, claiming his trial lawyer gave him a poor
defense.

GM PROFIT SHARING
It was a very good year for General Motors in 2022 as it earned $9.9 Billion dollars.
GM earned $two Billion in the fourth quarter. G-M has not announced profit sharing
yet, but it's expected to be about $10-thousand-300 dollars.

SNOWMOBILE FATAL-U-P
One person was killed and another one injured in a snowmobile crash in the U-P's
Gogebic County early Sunday morning. It reportedly happened on Snowmobile Trail 2
in Wakefield Township at about 1:30 Sunday morning. Investigators say a group of
snowmobilers was traveling westbound on the trail when the crash occurred. A 53-yearold man from Wisconsin was killed and a 54-year-old man on a second snowmobile
was taken to the hospital with a broken leg. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the
crash.

FATAL FIRE-MONTMORENCY COUNTY
In Montmorency County, authorities are investigating a fatal house fire. A child died
Sunday night when fire swept through the home in downtown Lewiston. The house
was located next to the Albert Township Fire department. Firefighters rescued a sixyear-old girl from the burning home, but she later died from her injuries at a hospital in
Gaylord. The home was a total loss. The suspected cause of the fire was a burning
candle.

MISSING WOMAN CLARE CTY
The body of a missing woman has been found in Clare County. Deputies say they
found the body of 34-year-old Sara Burns in the Leota area. Burns was reported
missing to the Ogemaw County Sheriff's Office January 17th. She was last seen
January 9th in the Prescott area where she had been staying after leaving her previous
residence in the Houghton Lake area.

TRIBE THEFT
A Chicago man pleads guilty to stealing a million dollars from a northern Michigan
tribe. Brian Groom has now been sentenced to 30 months in prison for his role in a
scheme to steal more than one million dollars from the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa
and Chippewa Indians. U.S. attorneys say he and his co-defendant, Chester Dunican,
were hired by the tribe to work on economic development opportunities. They were
charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
