ICE
Warmer temperatures have made the ice along Michigan waterways unpredictable.
Anglers venturing onto the ice from canals in Chesterfield Township in Metro Detroit to
the shores of Lakes Huron and Superior have led to two major rescues, according to
the Coast Guard.
Last week it required multiple agencies to save fourteen people from an ice floe off
see-ba-wing in the Michigan Thumb area.
Fluctuating temperatures have made for historically low ice coverage on the Great
Lakes this year, and the Coast Guard encourages Michiganders to check conditions
before venturing on or near the water.
