Pending final approval by the full board, The Alpena County 911 center will be getting an electrical upgrade.

During a radio upgrade project, it was found that a good portion of the dispatch consoles were running on multiple power stripes, some of which had been plugged into each
other. A radio installation team had overload and potential fire concerns, so a decision was made to call in an electrician to evaluate the situation.

The electrician agreed with the assessment, and further noted that some of the equipment could be subject to lower voltage to all components.

As such, a quote amounting to over 48-hundred dollars ($4,845.00) to correct the deficiency was furnished to and approved by the commissioners finance committee. The board however recommended that under county policy, another quote be obrtained and then quotes will be compared and submitted to the full board for consideration at their March 30th meeting.

Work will include adding wire mould on moveable desks, and installing six more double duplex receptacles at each of the three dispatch stations.
