Rogers City Council members recently approved of a budget amendment to help cover legal fees and costs associated with an ongoing tax appeal case.

The 2020-21 budget included legal expenses of 11-thousand dollars ($11,000.00) in addition to the monthly retainer paid the City Attorney. These expenses based on potential litigation against the City that have failed to materialize.

But the city has taken on considerable expense associated with the property tax appeal
from ON Minerals-Carmeuse, much of it associated with a recent site visit by an appraiser and legal consultant procured by the city.

Council members were asked by City Manager Joe Hefele and approved amending the legal contractual services budget by 25-thousand dollars ($25,000.00), making the total amount budgeted from 11- up to 36-thousand dollars ($11,000.00 - $36,000.00).

That action reduced a projected fund balance from 91-thousand to 66-thousand ($91,000.00 - $66,000.00)
