COVID-19 Cases Increase In Northeast Lower Michigan - A Concern

Coronavirus cases continue to sharply increase in the state, and in Northeast lower Michigan in the past week.

State cases reported have tripled in the last three weeks, with 22 new deaths and more
than 46-hundred confirmed cases by Saturday, and 25-thousand new cases alone last week. Since the Pandemic began, state confirmed cases totaled over 6-hundred 47 thousand (647,899), and just over 16-thousand deaths (16,004).

In Northeast Lower Michigan, health agencies now report combined totals of confirmed and probable, and MidMichigan Medical Center - Alpena currently has one covid patient hospitalized.

As of Friday (26), District Health Department #4 reports 3,908 total cases were recorded - 168 more in the past week, with 125 deaths. 1,574 cases were in Alpena with 46 deaths. 1,224 cases and 37 deaths were reported in Cheboygan. 723 cases were in Presque Isle County, with 26 deaths, and 387 cases in Montmorency with 16 deaths. Over 18 thousand (18,049) had been vaccinated.

In the District #2 Health area, there was a total of 3,419, 97 more cases in the past week, and 135 deaths. Alcona County had a total of 460 total cases, with 18 deaths, while there were 1,356 cases in Iosco with 63 deaths. 1,164 cases were reported in Ogemaw with 34 deaths, 439 cases were in Oscoda County with 20 deaths, as over 11-thousand have been vaccinated.
