Sugar Beet Production A Big Boom This Year

The sugar beet harvest in the state could set a record this year as Michigan sugar is anticipating 34-tons per acre from roughly 9-hundred farmers.

In 2015 the state record was 31- point - 6 tons from roughly 20 counties, primarily in the states thumb region.

Michigan Sugars' President says the company was even considering asking farmers to leave some beets in the ground because of concerns the harvested beets would decompose in piles due to the large harvest of crops and processing times.
