Alpena Commissioners Get MSUE ReportFri, 05 Nov 2021 17:49:26 EDT
Alpena County Commissioners recently received an update with an annual report and presenters from Michigan State University Extension.
District 14 Coordinator Adam Koivisto introduced himself, explaining some services provided.
He noted that MSU-Extension has been serving Alpena County since 1912, there were 241 programs and classes offered, over 28 hundred youths were served, and over 14-thousand people are tied into social media efforts. 4-H programs remain very popular with numerous volunteers who have clubs formed, many of which had to go virtual due to COVID, so a variety of innovative and creative methods of program delivery were developed.
He also noted there is more demand for classes that deal with the mind, such as areas of stress, or youth stress.
Commissioner Chairman Robert Adrian praised the organization and thanked Koivisto who worked to set up and educate county staff on developing Zoom meetings
