Alcona Health Center officials have announced that two of their staffers have received statewide recognition.

Dr. Tom Marshall, Chief Medical Officer, has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Michigan Primary Care Association. Marshall has dedicated his entire medical career to Alcona Health Center, beginning in 1985 as a staff physician, before accepting his current role as Chief Medical Officer in 1987. Marshall was recognized for his expertise at the local, state, and national level.

Alcona Health Center's Clinical Operations Director, Ashley Goddard, RN, BSN has received a Distinguished Service Award from the Michigan Primary Care Association. The recognition stems, in part, from her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. Goddard took the lead to develop safe clinical protocols and worked with local health departments to establish four regional testing locations. She also coordinated the Northern Michigan Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) regional hub for distributing Pfizer vaccines to other health centers in the state.

Originally established in 1978 in Lincoln, MIchigan, Alcona Health Center is a non profit, Federally Qualified Community Health Center with locations throughout northern lower Michigan and the eastern upper peninsula.
