Montmorency Agencies Respond to 102 Calls For Service

Montmorency County emergency service agencies responded to 102 calls for service in the past week.

Deputies made no arrests but handled eight Animal / Vehicle Crashes, six animal control calls, five alarms and one dispute. Eight Montmorency County Inmates were lodged in the Alpena Jail.

Tri-Township EMS had 17 runs, Lewiston 13, and Hillman ten, while Hillman Fire had three runs along with Tri-Township and Vienna Fire one each.

November 15th

8:48 AM A passerby stopped in the lobby of the sheriff’s department to report a 2-vehicle crash in Vienna Township. A deputy along with Vienna Fire and Tri Township Ambulance all responded to the scene. It was found to be a slide off with no injuries.

4:03 PM While on routine patrol a deputy initiated a traffic stop, the driver was found to be driving on an expired plate and no security. The driver was issued a citation.

6:54 PM A Deputy and Tri Ambulance services and Fire responded to a single vehicle rollover accident on County Road 624; the driver had lost control due to weather effected roads. The driver was not injured but was cited for operating a vehicle without a driver’s license. All units cleared without incident.

7:18 PM Dispatch received a call that had been transferred from Presque Isle County referencing a missing and possibly injured hunter. Deputies responded along with DNR and Hillman Fire Department to aid in the search for the hunter. It was found that the subject had made it back to his cabin with the help of his son; Hillman EMS responded to check the wellbeing of the hunter. All units cleared without incident.

10:28 PM Dispatch received a call that an ambulance from a different county had been involved in a deer/vehicle accident in Rust Township; A Deputy responded and took the report. No one was injured in the accident.

November 16th

4:54 AM Deputies responded to a vehicle that had broken down and blocking the eastbound lane on M-32; Hillman fire was paged to assist with Traffic control.

8:25 AM A welfare check on a Briley Township resident was requested by a neighbor, a deputy responded to the scene. The subject was found to be fine.

2:14 PM A welfare check was requested on a resident in Albert Township; the subject was found to be fine.

November 19th

2:12 PM A resident of Albert Township called referencing the neighbor’s dogs running loose.

3:22 PM A resident of Albert Township called about the cars driving too fast past her residence, an officer responded to the scene but was unable to locate the vehicle.

3:40 PM The report of abandoned animals was made to the sheriff’s department. A deputy responded to the scene and the animals had food and water.

9:22 PM A Deputy responded to a vehicle/deer accident on CO RD 624 in Hillman Township; driver was found to be fine; Officer took the report and cleared without incident.

9:26 PM A resident in Hillman Village contacted the center to report an opossum that was foaming at the mouth; complaint was given to DNR.

November 20th

9:50 AM An alarm company called to report a commercial alarm at a business in Hillman, deputies responded to the scene. Alarm was an accidental push and the deputies disregarded.

11:18 AM A residential burglar alarm at a residence in Briley Township was reported by an alarm company. A deputy responded to the home to find the owner who had set the alarm off accidentally.

12:25 AM A civil dispute in Montmorency Township was reported to dispatch. A deputy responded to the scene, spoke with both parties and the issue as resolved.

12:56 PM A family member who lives out of town called to request a welfare check on is parents; a deputy went to their home; the subjects were found to be fine.

7:34 PM A Deputy responded to a vehicle deer accident on M-32 in Hillman Township; the driver was found to be fine. Officer cleared without incident after taking the report.

November 21st

3:21 AM Deputies responded to a domestic dispute in Hillman Township; the parties were separated. Law enforcement cleared without any incident.

5:48 AM A vehicle deer accident was reported to the center on M-32 in Hillman; A Deputy responded to dispatch the deer and take the report.

6:26 PM Deputies responded to a residential burglar alarm in Hillman Township; residence was found to be secure.

9:26 PM Due to weather conditions a down powerline and tree were reported to dispatch in Hillman Township; Hillman fire and PIE&G responded.
