Alpena Road Commission Union Members Offered Pay Raise

Alpena County Road Commissioners recently offered to increase the rate of pay for union members after granting an increase for administrators and non bargaining staff.

After staff wage increases, the commission board received a letter from the union requesting to reopen the contract for salary negotiations, but as that can be a complicated and expensive process, the board had no desire to do that. So instead, the offer was made to increase union wages across the board by an additional one percent on top of the two percent previously negotiated for part of this year and 2022, an action that had to be approved by the union.

The reason for increases is the board recognizing inflation has gone through the roof, some office staff has not been replaced, while covid and other events required additional staff responsibility.
