A 28-year old Alpena Woman was arrested by State Police and later arraigned for Stealing/Retaining Financial Device without Consent and larceny.

Authorities say a female reported a stolen purse at Walmart last September (21), which was later recovered in a restroom trash can after reviewing surveillance footage.

A woman identified as 28-year-old Stingray Sheyann-Jean Thompson was observed picking up the purse, taking it to the restroom, and exited without it. The suspect later attempted to use credit / debit cards to pay for several items which was rejected while another successfully went through.

The victim stated she had cash inside her wallet, but staff did not find money inside while credit and debit cards were missing.

Thompson was interviewed, a warrant was issued and she was arrested by Alpena City Police during a traffic stop.
