The current state average price of $3.18 for a gallon of regular gas increased by nearly ten cents in the past week, and is around a dollar higher than last year at this time.

Annalists say the price of crude has sharply increased along with a refinery fire in Texas making for tighter supplies while consumption was lower.

The state low was $2.59 and high $3.69, while the national average was $3.30.

Prices took a 35 cent plus jump in many areas of Northeast Lower Michigan last week. As of Sunday evening, Alpena was $3.07... Gaylord $3.08... Grayling $3.09... Tawas $3.10... Oscoda $3.11... while Cheboygan and Rogers City were $3.29.
