Alpena County Road Commission board members recently decided to approve a contract to have State Police help serve with Supplemental Weighmaster duties.

Many road commissions work with State Police, and Alpena is no exception.

The contract calls for State Police providing at least ten hours of patrols a week, at a rate of almost 83 dollars ($82.66) an hour.

The road commission also has limited Weighmaster patrols conducted by commission staff, and use the state services as a supplemental effort to preserve road surfaces.
