A final contract was recently approved for signing so the City of Rogers City can move forward with inspections of water service leads.
All municipal drinking water providers have to inventory water service lines no later than January 1, 2025 and submit data to the state. To do that, Monchilov will dig up 299 leads chosen at random to verify their condition, type of installation and or materials used.
Rogers City received a 4-hundred-44 thousand dollar ($444,645.00) grant to do all the work, and while Monchilov was the only bid received for excavations, they were some 69-thousand ($69,694.00) under budget.
The Rogers City Council approved the City Manager to sign the 2-hundred -48 thousand dollar ($248,306.00) contact with Monchilov Excavation to perform the water service lead survey.
That, pending final review and approval by the city attorney, with work to begin in early July.

The grant details:
Total Rogers City DWAM grant is $444,645.00 - to be used as follows:
·$99,300 for engineering
·$318,000 for hydro-excavation
·$25,680 for force account (City reimbursement for water dept/DPW time spent on asset inventory)
·$1,665 to purchase locating equipment
The Monchilov bid was $248,306.00, leaving a contingency of $69,694 for hydro-excavation.
