Republican candidate for Governor Ryan Kelley was ordered to hand over his guns ahead of a hearing next month on charges related to the January 6th Capitol riot.

In a Zoom hearing with a federal judge in Washington, Kelley's attorney argued in vain that he needs the weapons for self-defense, as Kelly is a high-profile candidate with no paid security on his campaign.

800 people charged in connection to the Capitol Riot have been ordered to turn over their guns, and Kelly has also been ordered to surrender his passport.

He is facing multiple misdemeanor charges related to alleged trespassing and disorderly conduct.
