Motorists are getting a bit of relief at the pump as the state average price of $5.16 for a gallon of gas dropped by six cents, but is over two dollars ($2.02.9) higher than last year.

Increased supplies, less demand and lower crude prices all contributed to the drop, but annalists say prices will likely remain higher and volatile, as numerous economic and supply forces will influence prices.

The state low and high ranged from $4.59 and $5.59 while the national average was $4.98.

In Northeast Lower Michigan, prices had dropped slightly in the past week. As of Sunday evening, Gaylord was $4.83... Alpena $4.90... Tawas $4.93... Grayling $5.02... Oscoda $5.04... while Cheboygan was $5.06... and Rogers City $5.09.
