During their most recent meeting (July 9th) The Alpena Montmorency Alcona Educational Service District Board of Education approved entering into a contract with the Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency (NEMSCA) School Success Program.
ESD Superintendent Scott Reynolds explained that, Since 2017-18, the AMA ESD Board of Education has approved Administration to enter into a contract with NEMCSA’s School Success Program to provide pupil support services as the attendance officers for the AMA ESD. Under this agreement, NEMCSA addressed the attendance concerns of 1,171 students
in 2017-18 and 1,108 in 2018-19. While Coronavirus shifted schools to remote learning this past school year, 938 students were still engaged in the process
While the Revised School Code places the responsibility for truancy monitoring upon the Intermediate School District, and specifically the superintendent, the demands of this duty exceed the role of the superintendent and are being met by NEMCSA.
Therefore, the board enter into a contract with NEMCSA’s School Success Program in the amount of $20,000 for the upcoming school year.
