On Wednesday (July 22nd), Deputies from the Alpena County Sheriff's Office and troopers from the Michigan State Police were dispatched to a location on Monaghan Point Road where an ongoing investigation of stolen vehicles and vehicle parts originated.
They received information that a suspect went into the property and had not exited upon arrival of the officers. They attempted to stop the suspect but the suspect vehicle sped towards a patrol car, stopped and started to flee in reverse, nearly hitting two officers. Officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, but it lost control, struck a tree and rolled over. The officer's vehicle was unable to avoid the collision and collided with the suspect vehicle causing damage to both vehicles.
One suspect was taken into custody for larceny in a building. Information received after the arrest led officers to a residence in Montmorency County where two stolen vehicles, a trailer and several thousand dollars in car parts were recovered.
33 year old Steven Mark Casebier from Alpena is wanted for questioning. The incident remains under investigation. Those with information on the whereabouts of Casebier can contact the Alpena County Sheriff's Office (989-354-9830).
