Go Fund Me Page Set Up For John A Lau Saloon Owner Mon, 27 Jul 2020 06:02:59 EDT
A Go Fund Me Page has been set up to help out the owner of the John A Lau Saloon that was destroyed by fire last week.
The popular eatery was scheduled to open last week after a COVID-19 shutdown, but the business purchased by Jon Benson in 2018 was totally destroyed the day before. As a result, many friends and other business owners are pooling resources to help out Benson who has also made numerous charitable contributions to many organizations over the years, many behind the scenes and discrete.
The fundraiser called Alpena Strong-For Jon is now a chance for the community to give back and help out Benson, who also owns J.J.’s Steakhouse and J.J.’s Catering & Rental, which has also had a tougher go during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Alpena Strong - For Jon - has been established to raise funds to provide disaster relief to support his businesses and employees. As of this (Monday) morning, a total of 76 hundred dollars was raised since last Friday, of a 25-thousand dollar goal.
On line donations can be made on the GoFund me page - of which a link to the page is included with this story on our news page at WATZ dot com, or donations can be dropped of at Target Alpena Economic Development Corporation - inside the Alpena Chamber of Commerce building (235 West Chisholm Street).
