STATEWIDE SPORTS

The Red Wings tied their game last night against the Sabres with 3 unanswered goals in the 3rd period but lost in a shootout at home for a 5-4 loss. Coming back from 4-1, head coach Derek Lalonde felt good about the point. Alex Nedeljkovic started, stopping 30 of 34 shots, including a flawless overtime. The Red Wings have a small break until their next game, where they will host the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Pistons return to the court tonight as they host the Dallas Mavericks. Detroit is looking to bounce back from their 30 point loss to the Knicks on Tuesday. Tip off is at 7 p.m.

Over to college basketball, A rough first half put Michigan State in a hole they couldn't climb out of falling @ Notre Dame, 70-52 after trailing by 18 at the end of 1. Jaden Akins dressed and warmed up but didn't play as he continues to recover from a foot injury. Starter Malik Hall was out.

Elsewhere in college basketball, Emoni Bates scored 26 and led Eastern to an 80-68 win over FIU and Western dropped to (2-6) after losing to Dayton, 67-47.

And Lions RB DeAndre Swift no longer on the injury report as they prepare for the Jaguars on Sunday.
