STATEWIDE SPORTS

The Red Wings beat the Lightning 7-4 to snap their 6 game losing streak. Dylan Larkin and Michael Rasmussen each notch two goals. Other goals came from David Perron, Elmer Soderblom and Olli Maatta. Detroit grabs its 14th win of the season and their next game will be against the Ottawa Senators tomorrow night at 7 p.m.

Michigan State tied a program record with 9 four-star players on National Signing Day. Mel Tucker also says that he hadn't planned on any coaching changes going into the season. Meanwhile, The Wolverines signed 23 total players Wednesday and had the 16th ranked class reeling in two additional 4-star players.

Lions center Frank Ragnow was named to his second Pro Bowl as the rosters were announced. Detroit also had NINE alternates, including Amon Ra St. Brown, Jarod Goff and Aiden Hutchinson. Last season, they had one alternate.

No luck for the Pistons who have now lost 4 straight after a 113-93 loss to Philadelphia. Their next game will be against the Atlanta Hawks tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.

In college basketball, Michigan State beat Oakland yesterday, 67-54, while Michigan lost to North Carolina, 80-76.
