Hockey:

Traverse City West vs Alpena at 6 p.m.

Girls Basketball:
Alpena vs Petoskey at 5:30 p.m.
Hillman vs Fairview at 6 p.m.

Boys Basketball:
Alpena vs Petoskey at 7 p.m.
Hale vs Posen at 7:30 p.m.
Mio vs Alcona at 7:30 p.m.

STATEWIDE SPORTS

The Red Wings won for the first time since January 26th, a 2-1 victory over the Calgary Flames. Goals came from Dylan Larkin and Filip Zadina, who returned from a 3 month injury to get the game winner. Red Wings Goalie Ville Husso stopped 35 out of 36 shots by the Flames. Detroit’s next game will be against the Vancouver Canucks at noon tomorrow.

Saddiq Bey is on his way to Atlanta after the Pistons make one trade deadline move in the 3-team deal. Troy Weaver also ships Kevin Knox to the Warriors and brings aboard former No. 2 overall pick James Wiseman.

Speaking of Detroit, the Pistons will have another game tonight. They face off against the San Antonio Spurs at 7 p.m.

Over to college basketball, Michigan and Michigan State both have games over the weekend. Michigan hosts Indiana tomorrow at 6 p.m. while Michigan State plays on the road against Ohio State on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Michigan and Michigan State’s baseball teams will open their seasons against each other for the first time in Arizona on February 17th.

Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes won the second MVP of his career, getting 48 out of 50 first-place votes. Now he gets a chance to help the Chiefs win their second Super Bowl in four years. Game time for the Super Bowl between the Chiefs and the Eagles is 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
