STATEWIDE SPORTS

We have a new Super Bowl Champion. The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, 38-35. It was a tale of two halfs. The Eagles controlled the first half, leading the Chiefs at halftime 24-14. But Kansas City took control with about nine minutes left in the 4th quarter, leading 35-27. The Eagles scored again to tie the game up at 35 with about 5 minutes to go, but the Chiefs drove down the field, scoring a field goal in the final seconds. Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes earned his second Super Bowl MVP award, along with his second Super Bowl Title as a starter. He is also the first quarterback since 1999 to be named regular season MVP and win the Super Bowl in the same year. Chiefs Coach Andy Reid gets his second Super Bowl title as a head coach, this one coming against his former team. This is the Chiefs third Super Bowl title in their history and their first since 2019.

Michigan State basketball now on their first winning streak since January 10th they finished Ohio State in Columbus, 62-41.

The four-team deadline trade that included the Pistons was officially greenlit by the Warriors after two days in limbo. James Wiseman officially goes to Detroit they traded away Saddiq Bey and Kevin Knox. The Pistons also lost their 4th game in their last 5, 119-118 in Toronto. They're 15-43 and again tied for last place in the East.

Finally, the Red Wings have a second game tonight against Vancouver, this time on the road. Detroit is currently on a two game winning streak after beating Vancouver on Saturday at home, 5-2. Face off is at 10 p.m.
