The Detroit Red Wings beat Washington 3-1 and move within two points of the final wild card playoff spot. Pius Suter scored goals and Defenseman Robert Hagg had one. Dylan Larkin had his seven game point streak snapped after he was given a game misconduct in the first period and ejected. Detroit has now won 7 of their last 10 and are 27-21-8 overall. The Wings return home for a game against the New York Rangers tomorrow. Face off is at 7 p.m.
Michigan State beat 17th ranked Indiana 80-65. AJ Hoggard led them with 22. The Spartans improve their record to 17-10 and 9-7 for their conference record. Their next game will be against Iowa on Saturday at noon.
Detroit Tiger Chairman and CEO Christopher Ilitch was in Lakeland yesterday telling his team about upcoming improvements to the Comerica Park Clubhouse as well as a brand new team jet.
