STATEWIDE SPORTS

A heartbreaker for Michigan basketball, a double overtime thriller ended with Illinois clipping the Wolverines in Champagne, 91-87. Hunter Dickinson with a 31 point and 16 rebound effort in the loss.

Meanwhile, Michigan State will have a game this weekend. They will host Ohio State tomorrow at noon.

Over to pro basketball, the Pistons will also have a weekend game. They face off against Cleveland tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.

In the wake of a couple of major trades, the Red Wings also lost in an extra period, 5-4 to the Seattle Kraken. Tyler Bertuzzi and Filip Hronek were both dealt this week. Detroit is now 5 points back of the 2nd wild card spot but there are now four other teams between them. The Wings have a double header this weekend. They play the Islanders tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. and the Flyers on Sunday at 6 p.m.

The Tigers get another spring training win, this time over the Baltimore Orioles 10-3. Three different Tigers hit home runs. Detroit now evens up their record to 3-3 and will have two more games today. They will play the Phillies at around 1 p.m. and the Yankees at around 6:30 p.m.
