The Alpena ThunderCats 14U softball team beat the Presque Isle Panthers last weekend to win the Ogemaw Outlaw Summer Bach in West Branch. Final score was 13-12.



The NHLís Calder Cup for Rookie of the Year goes to Detroit Defenseman, Moritz Seider, and it wasn't even close. Seider got 170 of 195 first place votes and became the first Red Wing defenseman to win the award in franchise history and the first overall since 1965. Fellow Wings rookie Lucas Raymond was 4th for the award and even Alex Nedjelkovic received a 5th place vote.

Staying on Hockey, Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals takes place tonight. Colorado currently leads the series 2-1 but Tampa Bay is looking to tie up the series at home. Face Off is at 8 p.m.

After falling behind, the Tigers got within one run of the Red Sox in the final inning, but ultimately fell 5-4 for their second straight loss in Boston. Jonathan Schoop hit a solo shot in the 9th but they couldn't get any more runs across. Javy Baez and Miguel Cabrera each had 3 hit nights but it wasnít quite enough.

Also, Tigers pitching coach Chris Fetter took his name out of consideration for the open head coaching position in Ann Arbor telling the organization that he'll remain in Detroit and not pursue the job with the Wolverines.
