The Tigers 4-game series in Chicago ended in a split with the White Sox after they beat the Tigers, 4-2. Scoring a pair of runs in the 8th inning after an extremely rare error by Robbie Grossman in the outfield on a fly ball, his first in over 400 games.

The RBIs for the Sox were hit off of closer Gregory Soto, who was named to the All Star Game roster and will join Miguel Cabrera in Los Angeles next week. Soto has 17 saves, which is tied for 4th in the American League holding a 2.67 ERA out of the Tigers’ bullpen. The Tigers go right into another four game series. This time against the Kansas City Royals. The first game will be today at 2:10.

Following the NHL draft the Red Wings began development camp for 39 players at Little Caesars Arena in downtown Detroit. 6 of their 9 selections were present for the opening session on Sunday with an emphasis on introducing young players to the organization.

And Michigan athletics is mourning the death of former soccer player Carter Payne, who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident in Georgia. The 21 year old played two seasons as a defenseman in Ann Arbor starting in 2019.
