Alpena Road Commission officials were happy to learn of an additional reimbursement for services provided on state roadways.

Every year, the road commission enters into an agreement with the state to maintain state controlled roads such as snow plowing, grass mowing, or other various projects. Afterward, all allowable expenses are assembled and submitted for reimbursement.

The State Office of Commission Audits has completed an analysis of the commission maintenance reports for January through December, 2019, always a year behind schedule..

Over 7-hundred 50 thousand ($750,364.00) was submitted for reimbursement, but state auditors said a payable adjustment amount of over 132-thousand ($132,431.00) will be added to the commissions next routine maintenance payment. That, due to fringe benefit adjustments, overhead, and equipment rental costs.

In the end, final reviewed costs totaled over 8-hundred 82 thousand ($882,795.00).
