Officials of the Alpena County Road Commission say they will make inquiry of the County of Alpena to seek reimbursements from American Rescue Plan Act or ARPA money for related COVID-19 Pandemic costs.

As previously reported, Alpena County will be receiving around five and a half million in relief dollars, of which county commissioners decided to start developing project and reimbursement lists for the county, and then human service and or other organizations.

Road Commission Managing Director Ryan Brege says he has received information from the County Road Association that suggests the commission has incurred losses in excess of 4-hundred 15 thousand dollars of revenue in 2020, and over 2-hundred 82 thousand in 2021. Internally, over 138-thousand in expenses were calculated, all told, a loss of 8-hundred 35 thousand dollars.

Brege will be sending an inquiry letter to county commissioners outlining expenses, explaining that the commission is eligible for reimbursement, and see if the county can help out.

Brege feeling 8-hundred thousand is a lot of money, saying "We're doing o.k., but it would sure help put us back where we need to be".
