PI Commissioners Auditor ContractTue, 20 Apr 2021 21:21:44 EDT
Presque Isle County Commissioners recently approved of renewing a contract for auditing services.
After a three year deal, commissioners opted to keep Schulze, Oswald, Miller & Edwards PC to serve as the county auditor in another three year deal. The company that has offices in Alpena and Rose City was paid over 16-thousand dollars ($16,520.00) in the third year of the last contract.
County Clerk Ann Marie Main favored keeping the company, noting that it can be difficult to change auditors as they have learned the county financial structure and have made recommendations governing various funds.
With that, other sections of the budget will also be cleaned up and adjusted to make for a cleaner ledger.
While not opposing the action, Commissioner John Chappa questioned if doing so would be a violation of the county bid requirement process. It was decided to forego that and approve of the contract pending further research on the procedural question.
