Study - MI Has 15th Lowest Homeless Rate

A new study from shows Michigan has the 15th lowest rate of homelessness in the nation.

The study, titled State of Homelessness in 2021, followed analysis of data released in March 2021 from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. It says Michigan has a rate of 86 per 100,000 residents, which below the national average of 174.

Areas of the country with the highest homeless rates were Washington D.C., New York, Hawaii, California and Oregon. The lowest rates were North Dakota, Virginia, Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi.
