State Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Jim Stamas (R-Midland) said the supplemental budget bills approved by the committee on Wednesday would invest over $4.4 billion in federal funding.

One bill includes $3.5 billion in federal and state funding, much of it towards problems caused by the pandemic. Another bill includes $943 million to restore school funding.

Earlier, the dollars were attached to a provision that the governor relinquish some of her executive powers and she had vetoed those proposals on two occasions.

The bills now head to the full Senate for consideration.
