Northeast Lower Michigan COVID-19 Cases Slightly Slowing

Coronavirus cases continue to rise in Northeast Lower Michigan, although they have slowed a bit.

Health agencies now report combined totals of confirmed and probable, and MidMichigan Medical Center - Alpena currently has 23 covid patients hospitalized with four in intensive care, and an occupancy rate of 53 percent.

As of Friday (23), District Health Department #4 reports 5,180 total cases were recorded - 307 more in the past week, with 133 deaths, two more than the previous week. 1,993 cases - or 108 more were in Alpena now with one additional, or a total of 51 deaths. 1,733 cases and 38 deaths were reported in Cheboygan. 935 cases, or 37 more were in Presque Isle County, with 28 deaths. 519 cases were in Montmorency with 16 deaths. Over 23 thousand (23,496) had been vaccinated.

In the District #2 Health area, there was a total of 4,582, 231 more cases in the past week, and two additional deaths at 143. Alcona County had a total of 6814, an additional 47 cases, with 19 deaths, while there were 1,814 cases in Iosco with 65 deaths. 1,510 cases were reported in Ogemaw with 36 deaths, 577 cases were in Oscoda County with 23 deaths, as over 14-thousand have been vaccinated (14,719).

Across Michigan, case numbers number over 8-hundred 19 thousand (819,320) and over 17 thousand deaths (17,289).
